About Us

SD/NELA, the South Dakota affiliate of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA), is an organization of employee advocate attorneys dedicated to protecting workers' rights.  SD/NELA attorneys regularly represent employees in matters including, but not limited to, race discrimination, gender discrimination, religious discrimination, national origin discrimination, age discrimination, pregnancy discrimination, disability discrimination, sexual harassment, violations of the Family and Medical Leave Act, violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act, violations of the Equal Pay Act, violations of ERISA (the Employee Retirement Income Security Act), violations of USERRA (Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act), retaliation in violation of the various anti-discrimination acts, and breach of contract.

NELA was founded in 1985 to provide assistance and support to lawyers in protecting the rights of employees against the greater resources of their employers.  NELA is the country's only professional organization that is comprised exclusively of lawyers who represent employees in cases involving employment discrimination, employee benefits, and other employment-related matters.  NELA has a membership of lawyers in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, as well as state and local affiliates around the country.
