Nearly 200 employee advocates, judges and academics joined NELA's charitable organization, The Employee Rights Advocacy Institute For Law & Policy, on Monday, April 23 at New York Law School for a symposium called, "Trial By Jury Or Trial By Motion?: Summary Judgment, Iqbal And Employment Discrimination." The symposium examined the high failure rates of plaintiffs on pre- and post-trial motions in employment discrimination cases and explored potential strategies to reverse this growing trend. The program provided an unique opportunity to engage across disciplines. We dedicated the program in memory of Professor Bob Belton, who passed away earlier this year. It was the Professor who dreamed up the symposium as part of The Institute's National Litigation Strategy Project Task Force and worked with us to make it a reality.

Over the coming week, The Institute's Paul H. Tobias Attorney Fellow Matt Koski and Program Director Rebecca M. Hamburg will provide a look at the highlights from each of the symposium panels and the keynote address by Second Circuit Judge and former NELA member Denny Chin. We hope you'll join us!
