I am a partner at the firm of Doyle & Bruce LLC. Doyle & Bruce proudly represent employees in claims against their employers in both Missouri and Kansas, state and federal courts. We represent individuals in a variety of employment claims, including work-related injuries, retaliation, discrimination, whistleblowing, FMLA/disability, sexual harassment, pay discrimination, and more. We also focus on work comp retaliations, and has helped to expand employee's rights for these claims under both Missouri and Kansas law.
I was born in raised in Eastern Jackson County, Missouri, and (after a six year stint in the Dallas area) live there today. I graduated from the University of Missouri – Kansas City School of Law, where he earned his J.D. magna cum laude. While in law school, I was a member of the UMKC National Moot Court Team; a Managing Editor for The Urban Lawyer; and a teaching assistant for the legal writing and research program. Upon graduating, I was inducted into the Order of the Barristers. This organization invites only a limited number of members from a graduating law school class to join, based upon demonstration of high-quality advocacy skills in both writing and oral argument.
I was given the opportunity to work for a larger insurance defense firm during my last year of law school, but I turned it down. It was one of the biggest risks I have ever taken, but I knew that I did not want to do that kind of work. I am a first generation college graduate (let alone attorney!) and I grew up seeing the struggles that working people have--and the incredible imbalance of power between companies and workers. I decided that I would not take the big paycheck from the "bad guys," and turned down that offer with no idea where I was would work after law school!
I joined the firm (then Doyle & Associates LLC) in 2017 as its first full-time associate attorney. Since joining the firm, I have had the opportunity to assist over 500 employees with various employment issues, including work-related injuries, incorrect pay classifications, discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful discharge. I have tried cases to juries, judges, and administrative tribunals in both Missouri and Kansas. I have had the chance to argue before the Missouri Supreme Court, the Kansas Court of Appeals, Missouri Court of Appeals, and Missouri Labor and Industrial Relations Commission.
I also strive to help other small firms (who primarily represent individuals themselves) level the playing field via assistance in briefing and appeals. All to often big law firms use the power of the pen and the shear amount of time briefing and motion practice takes to prevent cases from getting to the jury. I enjoy that aspect of practicing law, and I am happy to make sure those with legitimate claims get his/her day before a jury.
