About Us

NEVADA NELA is dedicated to promoting the interests of individual or classes of employees and assisting the lawyers who represent them through professional networking, information sharing, continuing education, and advocacy on issues important to the members of NEVAD NELA and the employees they represent.

NEVADA NELA members advocate in a wide variety of employment related matters, including:

  • Wage issues, such as claims involving overtime pay, minimum wage, commissions, prevailing wage claims for state and federal contracts, and other pay related matters;
  • Discrimination on the basis of race, gender, religion, national origin, disability, age, pregnancy, and sexual orientation;
  • Harassment on the basis of race, gender, religion, national origin, disability, age and pregnancy;
  • Sexual harassment;
  • Violations of the family leave laws;
  • Retaliation for engaging in protected activity;
  • Whistleblower for reporting or opposing violations of state or federal laws;
  • Breach of contract claims;
  • Severance package negotiations;
  • Civil Rights violations;
  • Non-compete and confidentiality agreements;
  • Unemployment compensation issues;
  • Employee benefits;
  • Disability benefits based on policies through employment.

NEVADA NELA is a proud affiliate of National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA). NELA was founded in 1985 to provide assistance and support to lawyers in protecting the rights of employees against the greater resources of their employers. NELA is the country's only professional organization that is comprised exclusively of lawyers who represent employees in cases involving employment discrimination, employee benefits, and other employment-related matters. NELA has a membership of lawyers in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, as well as state and local affiliates around the country.

Membership

Membership in the Nevada Employment Lawyers Association is open to any Nevada attorney who certifies that fifty-one percent (51%) of his or her employment-related legal practice is on behalf of employees.
