Lobby Day Appointments

We will lobby in delegations organized by state. Each state with more than one person registered will have a Team Captain who will set appointments and lead the delegation for your state. If you have agreed to serve as Team Captain for your state, please begin making your team’s appointments and reach out to everyone on your team.
Additional information for Team Captains:
  • Please make appointments for your Hill Visits between 11:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to the extent possible. Because of the location of the United Methodist Building where we will begin our day, we recommend you schedule Senate visits first. You should try to schedule Senate meetings one after another and then schedule your team’s House meetings one after another. Please allow about 15-30 minutes between meetings and about 30-40 minutes for the walk or cab when you move from the Senate side to the House side.
  • NELA strongly encourages Lobby Day participants from the same state to visit both Senators and as many members of their House congressional delegations as possible. We encourage you to visit Republicans and Democrats. Every legislator should hear what you have to say.
  • If you are the only representative of your state for Lobby Day, we will have a number of MWELA members available to accompany you on your appointments, some of whom may be DC residents who have a connection with your state.
  • When you call to schedule each meeting, be sure to let each person with whom you speak know that constituents will be traveling from out of town to meet with them in D.C.
  • SHARE YOUR CONFIRMED MEETING! We have created a simple online form to submit your confirmed meetings. Once you have confirmed a meeting, please go to http://bit.ly/NELALobbyDayAppointment to submit meeting details. You may see a list of all meetings at any time at http://bit.ly/ConfirmedMeetings. It is important that we have a complete list of scheduled meetings.
